Best Buy Award from Ethical Consumer

Best Buy Award from Ethical Consumer

When we say ‘Conscious Skincare’ we mean it! In an era of fake news and greenwash it is easy to use words like ‘Ethical’ and ‘Conscious’. It is harder to actually prove we live up to them!

Each day we make choices as consumers according to our personal views and ethics. For over 25 years Ethical Consumer have been at the heart of the ethical consumer movement, providing the tools and resources to help consumers shop ethically, with informed choices.

They also campaign to challenge corporate power and force businesses to improve their supply chain. Their mission is to make global business more sustainable through consumer pressure and action.

We were recently fully and independently audited by Ethical Consumer and are delighted to announce that the Conscious Skincare range has been given ‘Best Buy’ status.

In fact we ranked higher than all other companies in most categories when compared to other well known skincare brands gaining 1st place!

Award winning natural skincare in 2018

Rebecca Martin, Founder of Conscious Skincare with the 2018 Platinum Award Judges

In recent years we are delighted to have received various awards. 2018 was no exception! Our award winning natural skincare range gained a further 4 wins, out of the 5 products entered!

Conscious Skincare founder Rebecca Martin is pictured above with Janey Lee Grace, Jo Wood and Glynis Barber.

From our Fragrance Free range, the Pure Hand and Body Lotion was awarded bronze in the highly competitive 2018 Free From Skincare Awards.

“My skin felt lovely, squishily soft and very hydrated. It was also smooth to the touch. Skin responded really well to this body lotion especially the tops of my thighs which went from feeling rather bumpy and rough to silky smooth and supple. My skin felt great after using this for a month…it was so much softer and smoother. This is an excellent lotion, the kind of product you would keep returning to as its simple goodness delivers.” Judges comment.

Also in the Free From Skincare Awards, the Conscious Man Absolute Shower won bronze in the Men’s Grooming category.

“Cleansed and refreshed skin very well. It also worked well on my hair and did not leave any greasiness. Very easy to rinse off. A lovely body wash which works well, leaves my skin feeling comfortable and has a lovely fresh spicy scent which makes it distinctive amongst other body washes. My wife liked the scent so much that she kept using it!” – Judges comment.

It was also an absolute delight to win the sensitive skin category with our Neutralize Face Wash in this years Janey Lee Grace Platinum Awards. Furthermore, a well earned ‘highly commended’ was awarded to Cypress and Sage Organic Shampoo.

Celebrated author and columnist Susan Jane White features our moisturizing creams in a fabulous article called ‘Winter Skin Food‘.

‘Any of Conscious Skincare’s range will do the trick for wintry months. They are called moisturisers, but that’s an understatement! They behave like a supersonic balm in my opinion’ writes Susan. She tested a number of our creams in 2017 and says ‘Every pot was licked clean. I’m certain you’ll love them.’ Find out more about Susan Jane White.

Winter Hair Care article

In a great article on Winter Hair Care, natural beauty blogger Egle reviews our new Cypress and Sage Shampoo and Conditioner.

‘In order to protect your hair from winter aggressors, choose a good quality, delicate SLS-free shampoo and a nourishing conditioner which helps to keep moisture.’ writes Egle. There are also some great tips on Winter Hair Care and a review of the products on the blog here.

Vegan Approved

Peta Cruelty Free and Vegan skincareVegan Approved Badge
We have been working very hard to ensure our entire Organic Skin Care range is suitable for Vegans. We are delighted to be Vegan Approved by both PETA and the Vegetarian Society.

The Vegan Approved stamp given by these organisations is really important to us as it helps grow the range of products available to the Vegan market and gives confidence to our customers.

Please note that although 99.9% of our skincare is suitable for Vegans, the Grapefruit, Lemon & Cedarwood Shampoo is not. This is because it contains Honeyquat.

However, the Pure Shampoo and Cypress and Sage Shampoo are both Vegan friendly alternatives.

Visit our Vegan page for more information.

Guest Blog for Naturewatch Foundation on Animal Welfare

Guest Blog for Naturewatch Foundation

We love the work that Naturewatch Foundation do on animal welfare. Animals cannot voice the cruelty and suffering they endure.

Naturewatch Foundation is a registered charity that has been speaking out on behalf of animals for over 25 years by:

  • Campaigning peacefully against animal abuse
  • Lobbying to improve animal protection legislation
  • Raising awareness through education

Rebecca jumped at the opportunity to write a guest blog for Naturewatch because the protection and advancement in welfare of animals is at the core of our philosophy.

She writes ‘I remember vividly the moment when I first learned about vivisection. I was 13 years old, sitting on the bus to school when my friend told me about her dad who worked at a large chemical company. My eyes widened in total disbelief, as they still do now, some 36 years later when I see that animal testing is still being carried out, like some macabre Victorian pastime….’

You can also read The Compassionate Shopping Guide which is provided by Naturewatch Foundation.  The guide helps you to choose cruelty-free products which can help influence companies to acheive a better animal testing policy.
