On World Cancer Day there are many, many personal and inspiring stories.
We wanted to share just one, from our good friend Amanda at Myon Pure. Thank you for taking the time to read it.
‘World Cancer Day – My Story
Aged 33, and just after the birth of my little girl, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. A stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma which was starting to spread through my body. I’ve been through the traumas of a cancer diagnosis at a young age, had numerous operations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy but despite this, I consider myself to be very lucky. I haven’t “beaten” cancer, nor am I any stronger than the many people who have lost their lives to the cruel disease. I am just extremely lucky that by chance, I found the cancer early, and had the support of an amazing team of oncologists, surgeons, nurses and alternative therapists who worked together to remove the cancer and ensure (I hope) that it doesn’t return.
My cancer experience changed the way I live my life in many ways. It put life in perspective. It made me think about what was really important to me, and lead me to re-asses my work-life balance. What really matters in life? To me, it was spending quality time with my family and doing everything I could to live a long and healthy life. I’d always been relatively fit and ate a healthy balanced diet, but I had never been aware of the amount of chemicals I was putting in to my body through my skincare products. When a blog review starts with a title like this you know it is going to be good!
We were fortunate when blogger Kate (Wild Organic Beauty) reviewed a couple of products from our range for the first time. Included were ‘This gorgeous Argan oil is sleep in a bottle’ and our Gentle Day moisturiser described as ‘This is the most buttery face cream I’ve ever tried’!
In fact Kate loved our products so much she went on to say ”I highly recommend any of the products from Conscious Skincare – I honestly don’t think you’ll be disappointed.’
It is not often we get compared to the Manic Street Preachers, but in this great review top natural beauty blogger Evelyn does just that! ‘Conscious Skincare are possibly one of the best things to come out of Wales since the Manic Street Preachers and I’ve had the pleasure of trying out three of their skincare products lately.’ – FAB
Evelyn tried out our Make up Melt and wrote ‘I was amazed by how well this worked as it removed virtually everything, including waterproof mascara, in one swipe.’!
Also reviewed were our Chamomile Flowers Hydrolat which ‘is a great staple product to have in your skincare routine, especially if you have sensitive or easily irritated skin. It helps to calm everything down and gives the skin a wonderfully refreshing boost.’
Our Organic Cold-Pressed Hemp Oil was found ‘particularly useful for soothing eczema flare ups and I also use it as a scalp treatment and as a leave-in hair oil if my hair’s suffered too much blow-drying recently.’
It was great to be recently featured in an article by ethical beauty writer Joanna Benecke for Diva Magazine. She writes “Let’s face it, it’s impossible not to produce waste. But thankfully I’ve discovered an extremely simple way for my face to be less wasteful: buy local.”
Highlighted is our Lemon Balm Hydrolat – “Boosting and pore-tightening for sluggish skin. A purist’s dream containing only three ingredients.” Product Page
