We love the work that Naturewatch Foundation do on animal welfare. Animals cannot voice the cruelty and suffering they endure.
Naturewatch Foundation is a registered charity that has been speaking out on behalf of animals for over 25 years by:
- Campaigning peacefully against animal abuse
- Lobbying to improve animal protection legislation
- Raising awareness through education
Rebecca jumped at the opportunity to write a guest blog for Naturewatch because the protection and advancement in welfare of animals is at the core of our philosophy.
She writes ‘I remember vividly the moment when I first learned about vivisection. I was 13 years old, sitting on the bus to school when my friend told me about her dad who worked at a large chemical company. My eyes widened in total disbelief, as they still do now, some 36 years later when I see that animal testing is still being carried out, like some macabre Victorian pastime….’
You can also read The Compassionate Shopping Guide which is provided by Naturewatch Foundation. The guide helps you to choose cruelty-free products which can help influence companies to acheive a better animal testing policy.
It is fabulous to have our Cleansing Duo Gift Set featured in this article on ‘Fair Trade October‘ by Second Opinion Magazine.
Highlighting fair trade around the world is such an important issue. The rights of workers are often overlooked in our fast-paced commercial world, where disposable and cheap goods are the choice of many consumers.
This gift set is featured in Second Opinion magazine because of its wonderful Fair Trade credentials!
What is really special is the organic cotton bag itself. Freeset is a Fair Trade and Social Enterprise scheme which gives new hope to the ladies in India who were formerly part of the sex industry. Each bag is unique with the lining handmade from different recycled sarees.
We have chosen this bag instead of a mass-produced item because it really makes a difference to lives!
Our Organic Cleansing Duo Gift Set includes 2 Award Winning products and a soft and re-usable Organic Cotton face cloth in this superb facial set.
Did you know September is the month where in the UK we celebrate all things organic?
Organic September is a month-long campaign designed to raise the profile of organic in the UK and shine a light on the amazing organic farmers,
producers and brands who work hard to produce food as it should be. Here are some of the reasons why;
43 % – the amount of British food found to contain pesticide residues by Government testing in 2015.
98 % – the amount research suggests pesticide use would drop in England & Wales if all farming was organic.
50 % – the average increase in wildlife on organic farms.

What a fantastic Summer! This year we entered 3 products in 3 separate awards and had 3 WINS!
This is a really wonderful skincare product, and our Rosehip Oil is of the finest quality. Organic Rosehip Seed Oil has become increasingly popular and is one of the best skincare oils to help with anti-aging and numerous skin complaints, its reputation is well deserved!
In addition we are delighted our Pure Body Butter was not only shortlisted in the highly acclaimed Free From Skincare Awards, but won a Bronze medal!
This is a really highly contested set of awards and you can read here how stringent these awards are and what the judging process is. This year there were 264 entries, and products are tested solidly by the judges for 1 month!
These are just some of the comments the Free From Skincare Awards testers made about our Pure Body Butter;
“I used it on sore, irritated skin and it helped soothe it. After a month, my skin seemed less dry and eczema on my back was in a much better condition. It also improved the dryness on my shins. Its richness helps get the job done. At the end of the day my skin still feels soft and silky after using this body butter in the morning. I love it.”
“Instructions were easy to understand and product was easy to use the first time. My skin felt a lot more nourished, comfortable, hydrated, soothed and supple. I noticed a big difference in the skin on my body, it was a lot more plump. The fragrance is very nutty and earth like. The texture is like whipped cream but then spreads like an oil. The product did absorb in the skin well but left a nice sheen to the skin. It did perform well and did what it claimed. My skin was a lot more supple, nourished, comfortable and healthier looking.”
“It is a nice body moisturiser to use on a day to day basis. Its real bonus was on a three year old who had been suffering from scaly dry skin on her arms and tummy. On our three year old her dry scaly skin was much improved and much less irritated. She also tolerated the cream – while some of the other creams we tested on her caused immediate reactions. The product soothed her skin and improved the texture.”
“My skin felt beautifully nourished and looked hydrated after I had first used it. It is so rich that it immediately felt very moisturising. The body butter has a strong chocolately scent from the cocoa butter. I didn’t love it, but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the product. The scent doesn’t linger on the skin which was a bonus for me. I was very pleased to discover that this body butter comes in two other scents of which I particularly like. I am going to order them. The texture is fantastic and is a partial reason for my high score. At first the jar seemed light for its size. I had been used to thick, greasy body butters in the past. On first use, this butter is a surprise. The butter is whipped and has a gorgeous mousse texture. It is a pleasure to use as the bubbles seem to pop as you scoop it out of the jar. The next surprise is how rich and oily this mousse applies to the skin.”
Last, but by no means least our Conscious Man Absolute Shower won Gold in the Janey Loves Platinum Awards!
This is a brand new product in our range for men, in an fabulous new fragrance blended specifically for men. Amyris, Cinnamon and Frankincense essential oils combine to make a lovely scent in this all over wash for men.
It was fantastic to be part of the Love Natural Love You show at Olympia in London!
The weekend was extremely busy and it was so good to meet lots of Conscious Skincare fans! We also picked up a FreeFrom Skincare award for our Pure Body Butter!
You can read all about the show here, with something for everyone from food to skincare and plenty of ideas for home and living.
As going sugar-free seems to be the latest thing, and if you want to lose some weight this year (and this is the most popular resolution) then here are some very simple steps to shed some pounds effortlessly and without any drama.
1. If you take sugar in your tea or coffee, stop.
Habits take about 2 weeks to break so initially, your beverage will taste strange but try re-tasting it. Imagine you have never had tea or coffee before. Explore the flavour of the drink without the distortion of sugar overriding all the flavours. Smell the aroma; do you notice how it smells slightly different without the sugar in it? Think about your drink and how it feels when you drink it. Think how much happier your heart, pancreas and waist line will be.
And there you are…as well as taking one small step in weight loss, you’ve just experienced a quick session in mindfulness too!
2. If you don’t take sugar, replace a processed snack (biscuit, breakfast bar, cake, chocolate) with a couple of handfuls of nuts and / or seeds, a piece of fruit or some carrot sticks, just out of the fridge so they’re nice and crunchy.
3. If you already do steps 1 and 2 then try to skip one snack, morning or afternoon and see how you get on. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water along the way. Symptoms of thirst are often mistaken for feelings of hunger so think ‘thirst first’
4. And try to go for a good paced walk a couple of times a week – no phone gazing! Look around, breathe, be in the moment and enjoy the sound of silence. Listen to the sound of your feet hitting the pavement / grass / sand / concrete / mud. Listen to your breathing.
Just a couple of good walks a week can help reduce stress, cholesterol and improve posture and muscle strength so your body will love you for it!
Spread the Lagom!
