Organic skincare – so what do we mean when we say our skincare is organic?
Over 98% of the ingredients we use to create our organic skin care are certified organic by one of the following organisations; Soil Association, Ecocert, USDA, depending on where they have been sourced.
There are times when an organic version of an ingredient simply isn’t available or does not exist. For example, water and minerals such as salts, vitamins or extracts.
Certain ingredients cannot be called organic if a raw material is processed many times to extract a particular element of it. For example, sugar has a naturally occurring foaming agent. It is processed to extract this specific foaming agent and is made into a solution called decyl glucoside. We add this to our body wash, hand wash and bath soak to create a foam.
Visit the Environmental Working Group (EWG) website in the USA for an independent, detailed analysis of all the ingredients we use in our skincare range. We achieve the highest possible score for our products and as a company.
Products are Designed for You
We design products with one primary purpose in mind – to be good for your skin. They are made to enrich and enhance different skin types and may help with any ailments that your skin may have.
The primary purpose is not shelf life.
Minimal use of preservatives mean products are not designed to sit on a shelf for endless months in a stale shop environment. We make our skincare to be used in the way that food is used – to nourish and replenish. Products contain beneficial active and ‘live’ ingredients, just like food.
Made in a Soil Association Approved Food Grade Environment
Products are handmade in a Soil Association Approved organic food grade facility where high quality food producers also manufacture. We are allowed to use this organic food facility because only vegetable-based ingredients are contained in our range. We also had to qualify for Food Hygiene certificates too!
Making products to food production standards enhances their quality, maintains their integrity and protects the benefits of the active ingredients.
All our skincare is approved by a Cosmetic Chemist to meet with current EC Directive Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations.
The Planet We All Share
We select recycled or recyclable materials such as glass, aluminium and paper for all our packaging. Going the extra mile means using items like biodegradable jiffy bags, acid-free tissue paper, unbleached paper packing tape (made without solvents) and popcorn packing fill that naturally composts.
Many companies like to pay lip service to some of these green and eco ‘buzzwords’, but at Conscious Skincare, we like to put them into practice!
Against Animal Testing
Our ingredients and our products have not been and never will be tested on animals. We have a strict no animal testing approach which we verify in our supply chain. We only select suppliers who practice the same high, ethical standards that we do. Click here to read our full policy.
